Got A Manuscript? Quick There’s Still Some Time To Enter The Biggest Writing Contest On The Internet. (#PitchWars)

As of right now, you have a little less than 5 hours left to submit your manuscript to a mentor of your choosing, for a chance of being selected as their new mentee.

What is Pitchwars, what is a mentor, what is a mentee you might ask. Well let me tell you; PitchWars is the largest writing community and contest on the internet, that immediately thrusts your work in front of hundreds of agents and publishers, with just a single tweet on twitter.

The Contest was originally created by Brenda Drake, Author of THE LIBRARY JUMPER, and THE FATED Series, in 2012, and has since become a great success, with many of those chosen as mentees, going on to become represented, and published Authors.

Sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime right? Well it is, here’s the process. But only if you think you’re ready to take your work to next level.

  1. You will have to do a little research on those who are mentoring, to see who would be a perfect fit for your manuscript. Luckily, each mentor or team of mentors, is separated into groups by genre and category (read carefully and make sure you make the best pick) List of Mentors here. 2017 Mentors Blog Hop  You will be able to choose up to 4 mentors.
  2. Once you have chosen your 4 mentors you will then have to go here and fill out this form at the bottom of the page. PitchWars submission form Do exactly as the form says, you will need to query the mentors, so hopefully you have a query ready that you can just copy and paste into the box, if not you can craft one up on the spot. You can also check out this post for advice on querying (How To Query A Literary Agent)
  3. Before you submit you are also going to need to have your first chapter–and prologue if you have one— in a document ready to upload, separate from your full manuscript. Do not send your full manuscript. If the mentor is interested in reading more of your work, he or she will ask for it.
  4. Then you hit submit! And it will be time for you to play the waiting game among the many other writers hoping to be chosen for such an awesome opportunity and experience.

If you are chosen, you and your mentor will become very close over the next two months working to whip your manuscript into elite shape, just in time for the pitching madness to begin.

There’s still a few hours left for you to submit, Hurry, mentors will be accepting submissions until 10 pm EST. Good Luck!

Flash Into The Past

Yesterday I stumbled upon an old file containing a novel I had been working on years ago; you know the kind, the one inspired by your awkward teenage life, and your infatuation with Werewolves and magic. Continue reading Flash Into The Past

Introductions

First off I’m a 22 year old mom of 16 month old twins. Anyone with kids, babies, or toddlers knows how grueling the task of being a full time parent to one child is, and I just happened to get lucky with two, on the first try.

Being a parent is great. You get to see all your sweat, and tears and efforts manifest into a growing person that you created, and although their smiles are precious, and their laughs adorable, we know it isn’t always pretty…

That’s where my love for writing comes in. In those spare moments once the kids are asleep, I get to delve into an alternate world completely different than my own.

There’s just something about being able to immerse yourself in a world in another time or another place; something so satisfying about filling blank space with people, places, and things, you’d never get a chance to see in real life, but whose problems, joy and sadness feel like your own.

Since I was 13 years old, becoming a well known author has always been my dream. Just the thought of having my own works published in a tangible, bound, hard or paperback book brings a smile to my face, or to know another human being has enjoyed something I wrote fills my soul with happiness.

Through this blog I will convey the struggles of being a full time mom and a writer, a clash of two worlds where dreams and reality meet.
